On July 31, the 8th (expanded) meeting of the 6th Council of the China Iron and Steel Association was held in Xiong'an. The meeting thoroughly studied and implemented Xi Jinping's Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era and the spirit of the Third Plenary Session of the 20th CPC Central Committee, summarized the work of the industry in the first half of the year, studied and analyzed the situation faced by the industry since this year, judged the operating situation of the industry in the second half of the year, and deployed key tasks for the second half of the year. The meeting pointed out that the steel industry is currently facing many difficulties, but opportunities and challenges coexist. The entire industry should further unify its thinking, build consensus, work together to overcome difficulties, reform and innovate, and take the road of high-quality development.

After voting, Li Jianyu, Secretary of the Party Committee and Chairman of Hunan Iron and Steel Group Co., Ltd., was elected Vice President of the China Iron and Steel Association. The meeting also reviewed and approved the proposal to adjust and add some directors and executive directors, the proposal to add Guangxi Liuzhou Iron and Steel Group Co., Ltd. as the vice president unit of the China Iron and Steel Association, the proposal to establish a board of supervisors, the proposal to establish the China Iron and Steel Association Electric Furnace Steel Branch, and the proposal to rename the Market and Import and Export Coordination Working Committee as the Steel Market Working Committee. At the executive board meeting held on July 30, the proposal to admit new members was reviewed and approved.
