In order to further accelerate the cultivation and development of new quality productivity, promote the adjustment of industrial layout and the iterative upgrading of industrial structure, and promote the high-quality and sustainable development of my country's aluminum industry, on October 23, the 2024 China International Aluminum Week, hosted by the China Nonferrous Metals Industry Association and organized by Beijing Antaike Information Co., Ltd., opened in Kunming, Yunnan Province. In his speech, Ge Honglin briefly introduced the operation of my country's nonferrous metal industry since this year and the new progress in the high-quality development of my country's aluminum industry in recent years, and gave a positive evaluation of the new global contribution and new status of my country's aluminum industry.

He said that since the beginning of this year, my country's nonferrous metal industry has continued to show a stable and upward development momentum. From January to August, enterprises above designated size achieved operating income of 5784.01 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 14.6%; and realized a total profit of 244.4 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 49.8%, which contributed to the steady growth of my country's economy. In recent years, China's aluminum industry has actively promoted green, intelligent and characteristic transformation and upgrading, and has made new progress in high-quality development. First, relying closely on the supply-side structural reform of electrolytic aluminum, it has driven the healthy development of my country's aluminum industry; second, relying closely on unremitting scientific and technological investment, it has promoted the modernization of China's aluminum industry; third, relying closely on green, intelligent and characteristic development, it has promoted the high-quality development of my country's aluminum industry. In 2023, the proportion of renewable energy used in electrolytic aluminum nationwide has reached 24.4%, and the annual output of green aluminum has exceeded 10 million tons; with the integration and development of recycled aluminum, primary aluminum and aluminum processing, it is expected that in 2025, the use of recycled aluminum in the field of deformed aluminum alloys will exceed 50%, and the carbon footprint of aluminum processing products and products will also be greatly reduced. China's aluminum industry is expected to achieve carbon peak ahead of schedule in 2025. At the same time, as the most important component of the global aluminum industry, China's contribution to the global economy is becoming increasingly prominent, and it has become an important engine to promote the continuous development of the world's aluminum industry.

Ge Honglin pointed out that while seeing the achievements of China's aluminum industry, we should also thoroughly see the new problems of China's aluminum industry in terms of its own and external development, which must be solved in a targeted manner. First, in terms of deepening reform, we must consolidate and expand the achievements of the legalization and market-oriented reform of electrolytic aluminum; second, in terms of resource supply, we must handle the reasonable proportion between domestic and foreign resources; third, in terms of scientific and technological innovation, we must adhere to independent innovation and further improve the level of green, intelligent and specialization; fourth, in terms of expanding the application of aluminum, we must unremittingly expand the achievements; fifth, in terms of international trade, we must build the competitive soft power of compliant trade and the competitive hard power of high-level exports.

Gu Yu said in his video speech that this year, despite the trade frictions, weak consumption growth, green carbon reduction pressure, green barriers, and the complexity and diversification of trade barriers, my country's aluminum industry exports have still achieved impressive results, and the export volume of aluminum and aluminum products remains high. In order to further promote the high-quality development of the aluminum industry and maintain a good development environment, from the perspective of responding to trade frictions, Gu Yu proposed that we should pay attention to hard work and enhance international competitiveness; pay attention to business strategies, take precautions, and actively deploy diversified supply chains and market systems; pay attention to capacity building and improve the effectiveness of response.
