2024 International Symposium on Advanced Energy Materials was Successfully Held
On October 16, the 2024 International Seminar on Advanced Energy Materials, a series of activities of the Capital Overseas Intelligence "Innovation Links" was held at the National Materials Service Safety Science Center, under the guidance of the Beijing Association for Science and Technology and the Management Committee of Future Science City, Changping District, Beijing, hosted by the University of Science and Technology Beijing, and undertaken by the National Materials Service Safety Science Center and the Beijing Science and Technology International Exchange Center.
Liu Xiaokan, member of the Party Leadership Group and Vice Chairman of the Beijing Association for Science and Technology, and Liu Qiang, member of the Party Working Committee of Future Science City, Deputy Director of the Management Committee, member of the Party Leadership Group of Changping District Government, and Deputy Mayor of Changping District, attended the opening ceremony. Zhang Weidong, member of the Standing Committee of the Party Committee and Vice President of the University of Science and Technology Beijing, attended and participated in the event. More than 110 experts and scholars from Japan, South Korea, Malaysia and other countries, representatives of leading enterprises and scientific research institutions in the domestic energy field, and teachers and students of Beijing University of Science and Technology participated in the event.
It is reported that since its completion and operation, the "Major Engineering Materials Service Safety Research and Evaluation Facility", a national major scientific and technological infrastructure undertaken by the National Materials Service Safety Science Center, has been the only national major scientific and technological infrastructure in Changping Future Science City. With its internationally leading experimental capabilities and level in the field of energy materials, it has played an outstanding role in serving the construction of Beijing's "Three Cities and One District", driving scientific research and international exchanges in the field of advanced energy materials in Beijing, and promoting the construction of Changping District's "Energy Valley". This event aims to play the role of national major scientific and technological infrastructure, with the goal of attracting international scientific and technological achievements, flexibly introducing overseas innovative talents, and promoting international technical exchanges and cooperation, serving the capital's economic and social development, creating a highland for energy materials research and development with global influence, and continuously promoting the high-quality development of related industries in Changping District's "Energy Valley".
"This international seminar on advanced energy materials adheres to a global perspective, adheres to openness, inclusiveness, and win-win cooperation, and "innovatively links" international resources, gathers international top innovative resources for major scientific and technological infrastructure, and serves the economic and social development of Changping region." Liu Xiaokan said.
Liu Qiang hopes that through the activities, he can gather wisdom, stimulate innovation, promote international technology exchanges and the development of advanced energy industries, attract more overseas innovative talents to start businesses in Changchun, attract more advanced manufacturing units to invest in Changchun, and attract more international scientific and technological achievements to be transformed in Changchun.

At the opening ceremony, Zhuang Zizhao, winner of the 2024 Chinese Government Friendship Award, internationally renowned nuclear power materials expert, and academician of the Japanese Academy of Engineering, shared the cutting-edge research results on the service failure behavior of nuclear power materials and the effects of dissolved hydrogen in high-temperature water on corrosion and stress corrosion. The opening ceremony also released the cutting-edge progress of advanced energy materials and the youth talent training mechanism of the National Science Center.
After the opening ceremony, the event held three special salons on topics such as clean energy, hydrogen energy equipment materials, and green energy materials. The innovative and cutting-edge content attracted the attention and appreciation of the participants.
During the event, the leaders and guests visited the National Center for Materials Service Safety Science, including the High-Temperature Long-Duration Creep Experiment Station, Mechanics and Structural Engineering Experiment Station, Pavement Engineering and Science Experiment Station, Multiphase Flow Corrosion Experiment Station, Natural Environment Corrosion Experiment Station, High-Temperature and High-Pressure Corrosion Experiment Station, High-Super Environment Experiment Station, and Open and Shared Facility Platform, and listened to the introduction of the center's test conditions and capabilities. Beijing Association for Science and Technology, the Future Science City School-City Integration Office, Changping District Association for Science and Technology, and Beijing University of Science and Technology also held discussions.
